The BMW 2 Series convertible has made its debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. According to BMW, it will offer four separate models in the 2 series lineup. Currently there are three models in 2 series, one is 2 series coupe, other is 2 series convertible and 2 series active tourer.

With its energetic curves, forward-slanting bonnet and headlights tapering directly towards the kidney grille, the front of the BMW 2 Series Convertible has a concentrated ‘facial expression’. The line at the bottom part , running along the ground gives the vehicle an extended presence.

At the rear, the BMW typical L-shaped lights make a clear statement even when viewed from a distance, making the BMW 2 Series Convertible seem even wider and even more muscular. The chrome-plated twin tailpipes and low centre of gravity immediately catch the eye.

Inside the cabin of BMW 2 series convertible, the first thing you notice is space that make you feel more comfortable. All the features are so placed that they are easy accessible to the driver. Surfaces and edges blend seamlessly into each other, increasing the light, flowing sensation within.

The acoustically-designed soft top can be opened or closed in 20 seconds of the BMW 2 series convertible can be opened or closed in 20 seconds and gives a stylish, urban appearance. It also helps you to get rid from the outside noise. The best thing about soft-top is that even up to the speed of 50km/h, it open and closes fully automatically.

All the four models are offered with four different types of engines. Starting with the 220i, it has 2.2L 4-cylinder engine capable of producing 184 hp (135 kW) @ 5,000-6,250 rpm range with a maximum torque of 270 Nm @ 1,250-4,500 rpm. With a top-speed of 231km/h, it can take you from 0-100km/h under 7.5 seconds.

The 228i model has 2.0L 4 cylinder engine that generates 245 hp (180 kW) @5,000-6,500 rpm with maximum torque of 350 Nm @1,250-4,800 rpm. This engine has top speed of 250 km/h and can go from 0-100km/h in 6.1 seconds.

The M235i has most powerful 3.0L 6 cylinder engine that produces 326 hp (240 kW) @ 5,800-6,000 rpm with a massive torque of 450 Nm @1,300-4,500 rpm. According to BMW, the M-influence gives the car the ability to hit 100 km/h in only 5.2 seconds and make a top speed of 250 km/h .

The 220d convertible comes with the 2.0L four cylinder diesel motor that features BMW’s Twin Power Turbo technology, a common rail direct injection with solenoid valve injectors. With a maximum power of 190 hp (142 kW) @ 4,000rpm and maximum torque of 400 Nm @1,750–2,500, it will give you respectable mileage of 4.7 – 4.4 liters per 100 kilometers (60.1 – 64.2 mpg).

BMW reports a market launch of February 2015 for the new 2 Series convertible, including the go-fast M235i.
