How it is different from Agni V missile?
Agni VI is the three stage intercontinental ballistic missile with the first and second stage is solid and third sage is liquid and has a range expected up to 10,000 kilometres(6,214 mi).
According to the DRDO scientists it will be ready to be flight test by 2017 and it is the only missile in Indian air force which will capable of carrying four(4) to six(6) Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicles (MIRVs), depending upon its weight.
Some other sources also claim that it would be capable of carrying up to 10 MIRV warheads and have a strike range of 8,000 km to 10,000 km but DRDO scientists refused to clarify the exact figure.
On the other side if we take a look on Agni V, It has a operational range of 5,000 km with three stage solid fuel engine. It can capable of carrying three nuclear warhead weighing over tones and hit the speed of Mach 24.Presently it is in service and is used by Strategic Forces Command. Its accuracy to hit the target is within 10 metres whereas the accuracy of Agni VI is specified after its testing.
Both Agni V and Agni VI uses the ring laser Gyroscope and inertial navigation System with GPS Augmented on them which is one of the reason for their better accuracy.
Agni V can be launched from the rail mobile launcher and by Transporter erector Launcher( a type of vehicle just like tank which can carry missiles one or more missiles and used to fire for both surface to surface as well as surface to air targets) whereas Agni VI will have the capability to be launched from both submarines and land based variants.
AGNI VI will also be capable of launching MIRV from underwater .
BOTH the Missiles can be easily transported by road due to their canisters.
